Ingredients
Scale
✔ Base Components
- 1 ½ cups long-grain white rice (rinsed)
- 2 ½ cups low-sodium chicken broth
✔ Seasonings
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp dried thyme
- ½ tsp dried parsley
- ¾ tsp kosher salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
✔ Optional Boosters
- 1 bay leaf (remove before serving)
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley (garnish)
Instructions
1️⃣ Rinse Rice
- Rinse in fine-mesh strainer under cold water until water runs clear. Drain well.
2️⃣ Toast Grains
- Melt butter in saucepan over medium heat. Add rice and toast 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until edges turn translucent.
3️⃣ Simmer
- Add broth and all seasonings (including bay leaf if using). Bring to a boil, then immediately reduce heat to low and cover tightly.
4️⃣ Cook
- Simmer undisturbed for 15 minutes (no peeking!). Liquid should be fully absorbed with small steam holes on surface.
5️⃣ Rest & Serve
- Remove from heat. Let stand covered for 5 minutes, then fluff with fork. Discard bay leaf and garnish as desired.
Notes
- Fluffier Rice: Place a clean kitchen towel between lid and pan to absorb excess steam.
- Rich Upgrade: Stir in 1 tbsp butter or grated Parmesan after fluffing.
- Herb Variations: Substitute thyme with rosemary or oregano for different flavor profiles.
- Storage: Keep in airtight container for 3-4 days. Reheat with 1 tbsp water to restore moisture.
