Description

  • 1 ½ cups long-grain white rice (rinsed)
  • 2 ½ cups low-sodium chicken broth

✔ Seasonings

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp dried thyme
  • ½ tsp dried parsley
  • ¾ tsp kosher salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

✔ Optional Boosters

  • 1 bay leaf (remove before serving)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley (garnish)

Instructions

1️⃣ Rinse Rice

  • Rinse in fine-mesh strainer under cold water until water runs clear. Drain well.

2️⃣ Toast Grains

  • Melt butter in saucepan over medium heat. Add rice and toast 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until edges turn translucent.

3️⃣ Simmer

  • Add broth and all seasonings (including bay leaf if using). Bring to a boil, then immediately reduce heat to low and cover tightly.

4️⃣ Cook

  • Simmer undisturbed for 15 minutes (no peeking!). Liquid should be fully absorbed with small steam holes on surface.

5️⃣ Rest & Serve

  • Remove from heat. Let stand covered for 5 minutes, then fluff with fork. Discard bay leaf and garnish as desired.

Notes

  • Fluffier Rice: Place a clean kitchen towel between lid and pan to absorb excess steam.
  • Rich Upgrade: Stir in 1 tbsp butter or grated Parmesan after fluffing.
  • Herb Variations: Substitute thyme with rosemary or oregano for different flavor profiles.
  • Storage: Keep in airtight container for 3-4 days. Reheat with 1 tbsp water to restore moisture.
